Measurement of platelet adhesiveness including the use of diatomaceous silica (celite).

چکیده
Methods of platelet adhesiveness to glass and celite have been developed. The technical merits of these methods have been compared with a method using adenosine diphosphate (ADP). The aspects of platelet stickiness measured by the various techniques may be somewhat different. Bearing this in mind, the reproducibility of the results using each of the three methods has been assessed on a series of healthy donors.

Platelet adhesiveness: the effect of centrifugation on the measurement of adhesiveness in platelet-rich plasma.
Platelet adhesiveness has been measured in citrated whole blood and in platelet-rich plasma obtained from normal subjects, splenectomized patients, and from patients in whom the diagnosis of recurrent venous thrombosis had been made. The duration of centrifugation used in the preparation of platelet-rich plasma was found to have a profound effect on the measurement of platelet adhesiveness beca...
متن کاملPostoperative changes in platelet adhesiveness.
Platelet adhesiveness was measured in patients undergoing operation. With the rotating bulb technique adhesiveness increased steadily to the sixth and ninth days following surgery. The glass bead filter technique demonstrated a marked increase in platelet adhesiveness on the day following operation.
متن کاملDiatomaceous Earth for Pest Control
Least toxic physical and chemical solutions are often part of an IPM program. Various forms of amorphous silica are commonly used as part of this strategy. Diatomaceous earth and silica gel are used in various physical formulations with or without added pesticide. The type of silica and the formulation depend on the target pest. In this issue advantages and disadvantages of diatomaceous earth a...
متن کاملAdenosine diphosphate and the measurement of platelet adhesiveness.
Platelet adhesiveness to glass beads was measured in citrated blood at intervals up to two hours after the addition of adenosine diphosphate (A.D.P.). Adhesiveness increased for 15 minutes, fell towards the original level, and then steadily increased. The initial changes were associated with the formation and subsequent dispersal of platelet clumps. The sequence of events resembled the reported...

The present study included 50 controls (age 34-64 years) and 50 NIDDM subjects (age 32-72 years) from the diabetic clinic of Government Medical College, Nagpur. It was undertaken with the aim of investigating obesity indices (i.e. body mass index, skin fold thickness, waist hip ratio and % fat in the body); lipid profile (including serum total cholesterol, triglyceride, VLDL, LDL and HDL-choles...
